My background professionally is in surgery, but my passion is for food. I grew up smoking/ grilling meats, vegetables and recently anything I deem necessary over a variety of wood flames with my father. He has taught me everything there is to know about North Carolina style BBQ. I have also developed my interpretation of Texas style BBQ with influences stemming from Brisket Master Arron Franklin of Franklin BBQ in Austin, Texas and President Pit-Master Kent Black of Black’s BBQ in Lockhart, Texas. At the age of 23 I am old enough to understand and preserve the tradition of the BBQ culture, but I am young enough to see that it deserves a contemporary format.
